THE STORY OF FMMT... HOW IT ALL BEGAN....

It started in 2006 with the girl Myint Myat Thu(then 6 years old).... who was found by chance by Gui Geuns(founder and chairman of FMMT) in a small village(Htaw Hto village) near Twante(15 km from Yangon).

She was suffering from a severe form of “meningocele,” a life-threatening tumor in the face. Her parents were poor and could not afford urgent medical treatment.

Thereupon he, along with some volunteers, decided to help this girl. She was operated on first in Yangon, then again a few years later in Nay Pyi Taw and Taunggyi. Myint Myat Thu is currently(2025) already 20 years old and is doing very well(see the pictures below)

When the Foundation was established in May of 2009, it was given its name. It turned out to be a happy coincidence that the name 'Myint Myat Thu' in Myanmarees means 'the noble one'. Later, Myint Myat Thu will move to Taunggyi with her mother to have a good home in FMMT SECTA. Thus the circle is complete.

Between 2009 and 2013, dozens of patients were helped by Myint Myat Thu Foundation - Foundation Myint Myat Thu or FMMT for short in Yangon and in Taunggyi.

From 2013, after the dismissal of some volunteers, the Foundation continued to grow into a well-organized and efficient aid organization that systematically treated poor children for free by a permanent and volunteer medical team. The surgeries mainly took place at the 'Tun Medial Centre' of Taunggyi and at 'Otari Thiri' hospital in Nay Pyi Taw.  Various types of abnormalities or disabilities were addressed(tumors, burns, fractures, internal problems, plastic corrections, etc..). The head of the team all this time was Dr. K.A. Htun, a very competent and committed doctor, who managed everything medically. Funding and coordination, on behalf of the Foundation, was the responsibility of Gui Geuns. Thanks to the support of people in Belgium and the work of an enthusiastic team of volunteers, more than 150 children were effectively helped between 2013 and 2017.

At the same time, preparations were made and plans were developed to establish a large-scale educational project in Myanmar. It is there where FMMT was mainly busy, specifically building a “Center for Special Education” in Taunggyi(2017-2025) and starting up a scholarship support(2025).

On the medical front, FMMT today takes on more of the role of recruiter and referrer.

DEONTOLOGY OF FMMT

FMMT's vision is rooted in empathy, respect for all life and a deep conviction that our actions find meaning in reducing suffering and supporting others. We embrace a vegan lifestyle because we believe that the life of every being is valuable and that we have a responsibility to live together harmoniously without limiting others in their right to a full life. At the same time, we embrace technological evolution and innovation, but with a fundamentally different mindset: technology should serve to promote the well-being of all living beings, not to dominate or exploit them. We see innovation as an opportunity to cherish our planet and to create solutions that are in balance with nature and all its inhabitants. Our philosophy is imbued with the realisation that we are stardust, temporary travellers in a vast universe. This does not make us insignificant, but rather connected to everything around us.
